6 Steps to a Dream Journey

How to plan your camper rental

Step 1: How many people will I travel with?

Step 1: If you want to travel as a group of 4 persons, you would be able to choose any of our motorhome categories. Our VW Campervans offer ideal space for 2 adults and 2 children. Our Budget category can even accommodate up to 5 persons as it offers sleeping comfort for 2 adults and 3 children. Hire the Campervan category that fits your needs best and start your dream journey through Switzerland and Europe!

Detailed description of camper van categories can be found here.

Step 2: Which Campervan Category to choose – Budget, Deluxe, or Premium?

CITYPEAK CAMPERS offers a choice of four different camper van categories. Choosing between the Deluxe, a Premium model or a Premium Camper Explorer? You can look forward to a layout that offers abundant comfort with a spacious wardrobe and well-equipped kitchen including a roomy fridge. The VW California is equipped with an electro-hydraulic pop-up roof that can be opened and closed conveniently at the touch of a button. Ease of operation for a comfortable camping holiday!

Also the advantages of the Budget category are tempting. Thanks to the flexible interior design, the Budget model offers a wider bed. The manual pop-up roof with integrated slatted frame and mattress offers space for two persons to sleep comfortably. The latest generation of our Budget Campers are equipped with a single gas cooker.

Any choice of vehicle category at CITYPEAK CAMPERS reserves rental of the latest model VW California or Mercedes Marco Polo camper equipped exactly as described for the category.

Step 3: What additional equipment do I need for my dream trip?

We offer the following optional equipment to fit any one of our three RV categories:

  • Bike Rack
Carry your own bike or e-bike on your journey. Our bike racks mount on the trailer hitch and carry up to four bicycles. Bikes can be loaded and unloaded with ease and the rear door can be opened at all times.
  • Luggage Storage Pull-out
Our Premium campervans are equipped with a luggage load extractor for quick access to luggage stored inside the rear door (available also for a Deluxe camper).
  • Kitchenette
You may opt to enhance the utility of the Budget camper van by adding a kitchenette. This includes a spacious refrigerator, two gas cookers, a sink and additional storage for dishes and supplies. The kitchenette is conveniently operable from the exterior of the vehicle while the rear door is open.
If you only want a portable compressor cool box (31 litres) together with your gas 1-burner cooker instead of a kitchenette, you can book this item separately.

Step 4: Do I travel with a standard bed or should I opt for a comfort mattress?

You can enjoy a very relaxing sleep either on the lower bed or upper bunk bed in any of our camper van categories. Our Deluxe, Premium campers and Premium Camper Explorer categories are already equipped with an additional comfort mattress pad on the lower bed without additional cost. Improve your sleeping comfort to the maximum and choose a Swiss mattress topper in the basement for an extra charge.

The comfort of sleeping in the lower bed of a Budget campervan and the upper bunk of our Deluxe, Premium campervan and Premium Camper Explorer categories can be significantly enhanced by adding a Swiss comfort mattress.

Step 5: How many kilometres will I need?

We recommend roughly estimating the distance you will travel even without a rigid plan. At CITYPEAK CAMPERS you have the opportunity to pay only the services that you really need. Your rental already includes 1’400 free kilometres per week (200 kilometres per night). You may opt to purchase prepaid kilometre packages before the start of the rental at reduced rates if your travel plan requires it. Refunds will not be given for unused prepaid kilometres.

Alternatively you may choose to change your travel route spontaneously and pay the excess kilometres upon return of the vehicle.

Rental rates and kilometre charges can be found here.

Step 6: Should I travel with Basic Insurance or choose the Deductible Reducer?

The Basic Insurance included in the rental carries comprehensive insurance and liability insurance for losses up to CHF 100,000,000.00. The deductible is CHF 1500.00 per incident.

You may choose to reduce this deductible from CHF 1500.00 to CHF 300.00 per incident for a fee of CHF 16.00 per day (max CHF 288).

Please refer to Comprehensive / Liability Insurance and Deductible Reducer sections for further detail.
